I was somewhat shocked to find out I had been nominated for ‘Leisure Agent of the Year’ at the Prestigious Agent Achievement Awards (AAA), imagine my surprise when I then found out I’m a finalist!!
This really feels like a recognition of my resilience and deliverance of outstanding customer service throughout COVID. My business survived, and I have my loyal clients to thank for that, many of my industry colleagues had to find alternative employment and leave the industry they love. I’ve been in the industry for 32 years, gone through wars, volcano eruptions, operator failures and 9/11 to name a few but COVID trumped the lot! I champion the industry, fighting for support with MPs throughout COVID and making regular appearances on TV and Radio
Next year marks the 10th anniversary of my self employment. I opened the Holiday Hut last year as I just knew at some point travel would be back and it provides me with a relaxed environment to talk to people about their trips. The last 14 months have been bonkers busy with bookings through to 2024!
Wendy’s Wanderers was established this year with the inaugural trip of solo traveller ladies to Tuscany in May.
Future escorted trips are being planned to include Madeira, a river cruise, Italy and ocean cruises.
The glitzy finals are in London on the 14th July, wish me luck!
